18K yellow gold, tested. 4 colourless round cabochon-cut rock crystals, diameter circa 18 mm. Colourful enamel. Top: diameter circa 2 cm, post length: circa 2.9 cm. Circa 17.6 g. The rock crystals, decorated using reverse glass painting technique, feature, in each case, a black Yorkshire terrier as well as a large white/brown and black hunting hound. The rounded transparent rock crystal top enables the painted dogs to appear three dimensional. The so-called \"Essex Crystal\" technique was very popular in England in the 19th century. Brooches and cufflinks were very often made using this technique."
