Roman Period, 1st-2nd century AD. A lathe-turned bone pyxis of waisted profile with concentric ring with the lid and base, applied gold foil ankh mount with attachment pins. See Taylor, J.H. Death and the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt, London, 2001. 48 grams, 68mm (2 3/4"). Property of a Richmond gentleman; part of his family collection formed before 1980; thence by descent. Fine condition, cracked.
