A bronze appliqué formed as a female mask beneath a volute scroll; the mask with vineleaf to the left side, lobes above the brow and chevron of folded cloth extending to the swags above; the eyes silvered. Cf. Rolland, H. Bronzes Antiques de Haute Provence, Paris, 1965, item 372 for type. 30 grams, 44.7mm (2"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. Fine condition.
