2nd century AD. A silver plate brooch of four gamma-shaped legs with pointed extension to each quarter forming a star; incised detailing to each terminal; hinged pin and catch to the reverse. Cf. Mackreth, D.F. Brooches in Late Iron Age and Roman Britain, Oxford, 2011, item 11344 for type. 8.14 grams, 27mm (1"). Property of a North West London gallery; formerly in a 1980s collection. Very fine condition, cleaned.
