6th century AD. A cast mount or strap end with flat pentagonal silvered plaque and leaf-shaped gilt panel with chamfered profile; stud to the reverse. Cf. Parfitt, K. & Anderson, T. Recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme, reference SF-11FB73, accompanied by a copy of the PAS report and drawings. 7.40 grams, 38mm (1 1/2"). Found Melton, Suffolk, UK, 2007. Fine condition.
