A substantial ring in 16th century style, comprising a Grand Tour D-section gold hoop with band of cross cleché motifs to the outer face and clasped hands motif, possibly later Lombardic script inscription to the inner face the posy 'Amor Vincit Omnia' (Love Conquers All), discoid bezel with incuse ropework border, tilting shield with clasped hands motif and fleur above, initials 'SI' flanking. 20 grams, 22mm overall, 19.38mm internal diameter (approximate size British S 1/2, USA 9 1/4, Europe 20.73, Japan 20) (1"). From a private European collection, formed in the 1960s and 1970s. Very fine condition. A large wearable size.
