A hooked dress fastener of Read's Class D Type 3, a lozengiform plaque with slider bar and round-section tapering hook to the reverse; the plaque with band of collared pellets to the outer edge, raised quatrefoil with central domed boss. Cf. Read, B. Hooked-Clasps and Eyes, Langport, 2008, items 205, 209, 210. 5.44 grams, 31mm (1 1/4"). Ex Horton collection; formerly the property of a London collector; acquired London Coin Fair, 1981. Very fine condition.
