Chinese wood table screen with silk on silk embroidery. Six embroidered panels, each with a motif of birds and flowers. Dimensions are: each panel - 10 1/8 inches tall X 21 1/2 inches wide, each panel is 3 1/2 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Free of chips cracks and restoration. Provenance: From the private collection of Dr. and Mrs. Shien Biau Woo (aka S. B. Woo), of Newark, DE. Dr. Woo was born in Shanghai, China and came to the United States as a young man, where he distinguished himself in his studies of mathematics and physics and eventually joined the faculty of the University of Delaware. From 1985 to 1989, Dr. Woo served as the Lieutenant Governor of Delaware, becoming the highest ranking Chinese-Americans at the state level in continental USA in the history of America. He continues to serve as a Professor Emeritus of Physics to the University of Delaware and a proponent of political advocacy for Asian Americans. In recognition of his contribution to the empowerment of Chinese immigrants to the US through his own successes, he is honored in the permanent exhibition in the Smithsonian National
