Paul Vorgang, German 1860-1927- A path by a lake in Grunewald forest; oil on canvas laid down on panel, signed, 37x51cm Provenance: Peter Lamda studio sale, Sotheby's, London, 13 May 1998 lot 208: Private collection, LondonNote: Paul Vorgang studied at the Berlin academy under Professor Eugen Bracht. By 1886 he was an assistant instructor at the Charlottenburg Academy of Fine Art. Vorgang is known for his depictions of austere Brandenburg scenery and motifs drawn from the immediate environs of Berlin, such as the Grunewald forest. Paintings by the artist hang at the Berlin National Gallery, the City Art Museum, St. Louis, Missouri and other distinguished art museums.
