They have been in a single owner collection for more than fifty years and include: Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sir Donald McCullin, Rene Burri, Bruce Davidson, Elliott Erwitt, Bill Brandt, Ernst Hass, Erich Hartman, Philip Jones Griffiths, Sergio Lorrain, David Seymour and David Hurn.Magnum Photos was founded in 1947 in Paris by Robert Capa, David "Chim" Seymour, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, William Vandivert, Rita Vandivert and Maria Eisner. It was formed as a cooperative to be owned and controlled by its members. The majority of its members are photojournalists from across the world, who have covered significant historical events throughout the 20th century, including themes depicting family life, economic hardship, religion, conflict, poverty, famine, corruption, politics and the cult of celebrity.
