18th c graphite and ink on paper grave robbing genre scene, likely a preparatory study. Depicts two people, a man and a woman, inside a tomb or grave. Broken door to a tomb decorated with a coat of arms that includes three crowns, traditionally the symbol of the royal house of Sweden. Skull decoration over doorway denotes a grave. Dimensions are: sight size - 7 1/2 inches wide X 11 3/4 inches tall; overall - 16 3/8 inches wide X 21 1/8 inches tall. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Appears free of rips, tears, and repairs. Upper left corner is creased. Not examined out of frame.
