Chinese Qing Dynasty, Stunning red and blue Chinese Mythical beast porcelain bowl. Delicately potted with slightly rounded sides rising from footed base toward flat opening , straight opening, curved side, with a slightly raised footing. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in ruby red underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The Exterior delicately fine depicted some Chinese mythical flying beast as Qilin, Xiezhi on cobalt blue fine color, among thrashing wavy Lishui water on ruby red fine color. Qilin are extraordinarily beautiful creatures, sparkling like gems and adorned in flames. With their scaly bodies and horned heads, they resemble Chinese dragons, but their legs terminate in delicate hooves, rather than the dragonâs vicious paws, and their tails are lion-like instead of serpentine. Whatever their special attraction, they always move gracefully and dazzle the mortals who see them. And Xiezhi is described as somewhat like a unicorn and a dragon which has high intelligence and can judge between right and wrong and wipe out the wicked by biting or goring them. The Neck mouth rim decorated with repeating key fret enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. Auspicious pattern decorated on the foot base rim, enclosed with double fine blue rings lines. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the carving, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. This piece displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely exterior, glazed smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous. The bowl elegantly displayed upon a carved hardwood tall stand. The Under-base bears reign mark, a six underglaze blue seal script characters reign mark, Made In The Years of Qianlong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.Measurements: Height: 3-5/8" Diameter: 8-1/4" Stand: Height: 2-7/8" Width: 4-1/4" PROVENANCE:From the estate of Harold & Mousser, of York, Pennsylvania, an entrepeneurs, private collections, acquired pre-1970's from Fluhrer's Galleries, York, PA.
