A bronze drum-shaped pyxis with gusset to the flared base, everted rim, four radiating knops each with a silver stud, low-relief design of palmettes and laurel leaves; domed lid with lotus-petal band, central disc with high-relief gorgoneion, applied silver eyes. 671 grams total, 78-87mm (3 - 3 1/4"). Property of a Surrey collector; acquired in the early 1970s.
