A bronze oil lamp with globular heart-shaped body and projecting nozzle with wide wick hole; oil hole to the back with scallop shell lid hinged to the base of a large equal-armed cross with ring handle to the back; pedestal ring to the base, with two-stage graduated column and large rectangular base. Cf. Bailey, D.M. A Catalogue of the Lamps in the British Museum. IV. Lamps of Metal and Stone and Lampstands, London, 1988, item Q3800. 3.7 kg, pedestal: 27.5 x 14cm (1 3/4").
