VISHNU, Nepal, wood, 18th century , 14,5 cm x 11 cm , 254 gramsPADMAPANI, Tibet, bronze firegilt, 18th century, 30,5 cm x 9 cm , 1760 gramsMALA, Tibet, bronze firegilt, Tibet, 16th century, 8 cm x 5 cm , 300 gramsA standing Padmapani on a double lotus base with his right palm facing forward, the left arm stretched along the side with palm facing the floor. He is dressed in a dhoti and with a flowy scarf almost touching the ground. The eyes are downcast, the lips smiling and his head decorated with a tiara and big earrings.Vishnu is displayed in a small alcove with beaded frame. He has four arms, each holding attributes, his battle weapons. The 3rd object is ‘Thangton Gyalpo, seated on a goat (perhaps in allusion to his days as a shepherd, atop a rocky formation, leaning on his right hand, a skull cup filled with flames in the other. The inscription on the base just reads ‘Ma Lha’, which may not refer to him. The iconography is certainly unusual.
