Stone,India, 15th centuryDimensions: Height: 17 cm / Wide 13 cm / Depth 11 cmWeight: 2110 gramsFour-armed Ganesha seated on lotus throne. In the center of the throne is a mouse head, his mount vehicle. A snake is tied around his big belly which is also decorated with many necklaces. In his righ hand he is holding his broken tusk. There are various stories telling of the broken tusk, one where he was supposed to write down a poem dictated by sage Vyasa. Eagerly writing it down, he broke his pen so Ganesha quickly broke off his tusk to continue writing with it. His trunk is partly missing but coiled to the left, probably reaching for sweet laddu balls which he usually carries in a bowl in his left hand.
