Attributed to France, second half 18th C., circle of Claude Michel, called Clodion. The Musée Cognacq-Jay in Paris houses a work entitled “monument pour un chien” signed by Clodion. This unusual sculpture can be attributed to an artist from the circle of the great French sculptor. It is in no way inferior to the monument. The as yet unidentified sculptor has given the poodle an anthropomorphic expression but at the same time, like Claude Michel, he demonstrates his close observation of the animal's natural pose and knowledge of anatomy. Terracotta is a perfect medium for the subtleties of sculptural work, as it immediately reflects the unique style and abilities of the artist. Die hier vorgestellte außergewöhnliche Tierskulptur ist wahrscheinlich dem Umkreis des großen französischen Bildhauers zuzuschreiben. Sie steht dem Tiermonument in nichts nach. Der noch nicht identifizierte Bildhauer hat dem Pudel einen anthropomorphen Gesichtsausdruck verliehen. Dennoch beweist er, genau wie Claude Michel, genaue Beobachtung der natürlichen Haltung des Tieres und die Kenntnis seiner Anatomie. Terracotta ist ein perfektes Material für die Feinheiten der bildhauerischen Arbeit. Sie spiegelt unmittelbar die Handschrift und die Fähigkeiten des Künstlers.
