Literature The Louvre in Paris houses both the original terracotta version of this statue as well as the version in marble (inv. nos. RF1197 and RF1280), both from the estate of the Brongniart family. The work depicts Alexandre Brongniart (1770 - 1847), the son of the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart (1739-1813), who was later to become a mineralogist and director of the Sèvres porcelain manufactory.
