An Important Nazca Tunic Peru, c. 100 BC – 800 AD Monumental in scale and magnificently crafted, this tunic is a masterpiece of Nasca weaving. Composed of narrow bands of rectangles with repeated motifs of a stepped diagonal and a wide cross in alternating color combinations. The width sides have a wide band with stylized human figures in alternating colors, and two narrower bands with curling wave pattern, the sides also have tabular fringe, each tab containing a bird. Six joined panels, the slit in middle is closed. In very good condition, colors vibrant, visible repairs along edges. Published: James W.
