This magazine, on pages 289 - 302 includes a segment titled "Francis Hopkinson: Man of Affairs and Letters". It provides the following insight into how the Hopkinson and Duche families came to be linked --- "When the father died in 1751, leaving a large family and a limited income to the careful management of his young wife, Francis, the eldest child, was fourteen years old. To his education his mother gave her most inspiring and assiduous efforts. Entering the College of Philadelphia at sixteen years, his name is on the list of the first class, to be graduated in 1757 (the year that the book "Hudibras" was gifted from Duche to Hopkinson) including some men of renown in law, medicine and the church (including) Jacob Duche." During his time at College of Philadelphia, Duché served as Benjamin Franklin’s secretary and then graduated as valedictorian. From the Francis Hopkinson Family Archives
