Complete in two volumes, Jacob Duche "Discourses On Various Subjects" (T.Cadell, London 1779); rebound in 19th century bindings, this incredibly scarce title was printed in London, during the time of Duche's exile from the colonies for high treason. Inside we find a cut and pasted signature reading "Tho S Duche 1780" and below it the following: "Presented by Francis Hopkinson Esq to the Rev. Ed. A. Foggo, Rector Christ Church Phila 1873 presented by him to Edward Hopkinson Esq 1895." This means that the book left the Hopkinson Family and then was re-presented to them. The Francis Hopkinson, in this instance, was not the signer of the Declaration of Independence, but rather the son of either Joseph Hopkinson or Oliver Hopkinson, as they were then given to Edward (the son of Oliver).
