"What Is Our Situation? And What Our Prospects? A Few Pages For Americans, By An American" ; Rebound in decorative boards, this 40 page title is quite rare, and has also been signed by the "anonymous" author himself, Joseph Hopkinson (1770 - 1842) on the title page. The binding has been decorated to read "Tract By Joseph Hopkinson", and a copy of this "little pamphlet" was sent by Hopkinson to George Washington as evidenced by a letter sent to Washington May 9th 1798 (from Founders.Archives.Gov) This "Tract" concludes by saying "Let the AMERICAN SPIRIT stand forth in its native dignity and strength, and let it be seen that it "IS NOT DEAD BUT SLEEPETH". From the Francis Hopkinson Family Archives
