Signed by Francis Hopkinson (1737 - 1791) and twice signed by Clement Biddle, the document pertains to the Brigantine Vigilant previously mentioned in lot 208. The primary content of the document is that of a court summons with a pressed seal of the Admiralty Court of Pennsylvania, but this time with more interesting instructions: "immediately Seize and attach the Brigantine Vigilant Captain Neveux now lying in this Port and within the Jurisdiction of this Court with her Tackle Apparel and Furniture and them safely keep to abide the final Order and Decree of this Court in a cause prosecuted here against the said Brigantine." On the reverse, a response written and signed by Biddle reads as follows: "To the Honorable Francis Hopkinson Esq. Judge of the Court of Admiralty for the State of Pennsylvania Pursuant to the directions of this Writ I have attached the Brigantine Vigilant & have her in my custody for the further Order of this Court...So Answers Clement Biddle Marshal."
