Joseph Bonaparte (1768 - 1844) Lock of Hair, The Count de Survilliers, framed and encased in a smaller ornate gilt metal locket, this was found with the hair of George Washington (1732 - 1799). Bonaparte was in fact the King of Naples and then also the King of Spain before coming to America and setting up residence in Bordentown, New Jersey at Point Breeze. He was very close with the Hopkinson family as they had deep ties to Bordentown, especially Joseph Hopkinson (1770 - 1842) as well as his wife and many children. On the reverse of the frame there is an applied note of provenance, reading as follows: "The Hair of Joseph Bonaparte, Count de Survilliers Phila July 20th 1832 - day he sailed from the U.S." From the Francis Hopkinson Family Archives
