沉香为名贵香料，亦可入药，产自南洋，身有奇香，十分名贵。晚明香道盛行，达官显贵努力搜求，以制文玩，尤以清代宫廷最为突出。沉香木成材通常需数十年，或达数百年的时间，尤为难得。此杯择选沉香所制，圆润饱满，随形雕灵芝为耳，其上生长大小灵芝，回曲起伏，神采生动，造型写实。传世藏用得当，值得珍藏。
