19th Cent French Marble & Ormolu Annular Clock A magnificent French 19th century Louis XVI st. carrara marble and ormolu annular clock. Raised on ormolu topie feet below the multi-tiered marble base with a gilded band of intertwined ribbon, laurel leaf and berries. Embellished with a beaded trim below the intricately chased cherubic scene. Above is a winged bronze standing cherub with gilt quiver and outstretched arm points to the time on the two porcelain annular dial rings showing hours with Roman numerals and the minutes with Arabic numerals. At his feet is richly chased shield and helmet. Intertwined serpents and removable lid opens to the eighth-day time and count wheel strike spring-powered movement. The base is further decorated with classical ormolu friezes on all sides. Finished with bronze gilded chandelles and a removable lid with foliate and acorn finial.
