An Imperial Chinese blue-ground tianqiuping vase with Guangxu mark and dating to the same period. The vase is decorated with gold-toned Shou medallions and roundels. It also features a band of lotus tracery and Shou characters. The bottom of the vase has a six-character mark. Dimensions are 16 in. tall X 9 in. wide; 40.6 cm tall X 22.9 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: It is in good condition. Provenance: From Mr. Kung in Vancouver, Canada, inherited from his father, who acquired this **** in Hong Kong and had it shipped to Canada before the 1970s. Lots 194-198 from our auction on Sept 6th, 2019 were from the same estate. A blue-ground gold-pattered vase with Guangxu 6-character mark was sold at both Sotheby' s London on May 13, 2015, Lot 189; and Sotheby's New York on March 18, 2008, Lot 178. A similar blue-ground vase with gilt design of floral medallions, bearing a 6-character Guangxu mark and preserved in the Palace Museum, Beijing, is illustrated in _The Official Kiln Porcelain of the Chinese Qing Dynasty_, Shanghai: Shanghai Cultural Publishing House, 2003, pg. 482 (fig.1).
