Barbizon School, 19th century Cattle by a wooded stream oil on canvas 50 x 61cm Condition report: Oil on panel which is formed from three boards in horizontal alignment. The panel joins are sound and there is no evidence of splits or movement visible in the paint surface. The paint layers are thickly applied and there are some dry drying cracks and surface texture relating to the drying of the paint layers. Overall the paint layers are in a good, stable condition. The varnish layer is thick, glossy and yellowed. Around the edges of the painting there is abrasion to both the paint and varnish layers. Some areas of abrasion around the edges have been retouched.
