A Chinese bronze statue of seated Guanyin dating from the Ming dynasty. Guanyin sits in dhyanasana with her right hand in abhaya mudra and her left hand in dhyana mudra. She wears an abundance of jewelry with lotus border robes and long hair draping over both shoulders. Her crown is elaborate, featuring a water jug centerpiece. She has a tall hair finial. Dimensions are: 13 1/2 inches tall X 9 inches wide, 34.3 cm X 22.9 cm. Weight: 5650 grams. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Gilt and age wear. Provenance: From the collection of Mr. Williams in Texas. Mr. Williams has more than 50 years of collecting experience in Buddhist sculptures, paintings, and ritual objects from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, and the Central Plains of China.
