A PUA KUMBU CEREMONIAL CLOTH. Indonesia, Borneo, Sarawak, Iban, early 20th c. 240 × 115 cm. Warp ikat of handspun cotton, undyed and in red-brown hues of natural dyes. The pattern consists of crocodiles and anthropomorphic figures. The edges finished in red, brown and undyed stripes. Minor wear. Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, acquired in Sarawak ca. 1990 (no documents available). --------------- PUA KUMBU-ZEREMONIALTUCH. Indonesien, Borneo, Sarawak, Iban, anfangs 20. Jh. 240 × 115 cm. Kett-Ikat aus handgesponnener Baumwolle in erdigen Farben, in zwei Bahnen gewoben. Der dichte Dekor besteht aus Krokodilen und unterschiedlichen anthropomorphen Figuren. Randabschluss aus feinen Streifen in Rot, Natur und Dunkelbraun. Min. besch. Provenienz: Alte Schweizer Privatsammlung, ca. 1990 in Sarawak erstanden (keine Belege vorhanden).
