A PUA KUMBU CEREMONIAL CLOTH. Indonesia, Borneo, Sarawak, Iban, early 20th c. 183 × 88 cm. Warp ikat of handspun cotton, undyed and in red-brown hues of natural dyes. The pattern consists of serpents and anthropomorphic figures. The edges finished in small ikat, red, yellow, green and undyed stripes. With hanging loops. Minor wear and repair. Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, acquired in Sarawak ca. 1990 (no documents available). --------------- PUA KUMBU-ZEREMONIALTUCH. Indonesien, Borneo, Sarawak, Iban, anfangs 20. Jh. 183 × 88 cm. Kett-Ikat aus handgesponnener Baumwolle in erdigen Farben, in zwei Bahnen gewoben. Der Dekor besteht aus Schlangen und anthropomorphen Figuren. Randabschluss mit schmalen Ikatbahnen und feinen Streifen in Rot, Natur, Gelb und Grün. Mit Aufhängeösen. Min. besch. u. rest. Provenienz: Alte Schweizer Privatsammlung, ca. 1990 in Sarawak erstanden (keine Belege vorhanden).
