A PUA KUMBU CEREMONIAL CLOTH. Indonesia, Borneo, Sarawak, Iban, early 20th c. 197 × 85 cm. Warp ikat of handspun cotton, undyed and in red-brown hues of natural dyes. The pattern consists of anthropomorphic figures, skulls and animals. Horizontal middle seam with hanging loops. Minor wear. Provenance: Old Swiss private collection, acquired in Sarawak ca. 1990 (no documents available). --------------- PUA KUMBU-ZEREMONIALTUCH. Indonesien, Borneo, Sarawak, Iban, anfangs 20. Jh. 197 × 85 cm. Kett-Ikat aus handgesponnener Baumwolle in erdigen Farben, in zwei Bahnen gewoben. Der Dekor besteht aus anthropomorphen Figuren, Schädeln und Tieren. Horizontale Mittelnaht mit Aufhängeösen. Min. besch. Provenienz: Alte Schweizer Privatsammlung, ca. 1990 in Sarawak erstanden (keine Belege vorhanden).
