Margherita Carosio (Genova 1908 – ivi 2005) In 1924, at age 16, he debuted in the work in Novi Ligure as the star of Lucia di Lammermoor. In 1928, at age 19, thanks to the recommendation of the Irish soprano Margaret Sheridan, was Musetta in La bohème and Feodor in Boris Godunov at the Royal Opera House in London, where he returned only after the end of World War II. Later in his career he took the risk more driven opera roles, including Mimi and Violetta. In 1946, on tour with the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, he returned to London interpreting La Traviata and L'elisir d'amore, and also performed at La Scala, and recorded for EMI. In 1949, again at La Scala, he was the star of La bohème conducted by Victor de Sabata (of which there is a narrow live selection) and in 1954 played the main part in Amelia al Ballo, who then recorded to disk. Since the 30s he also began a small film career in music or films where music was a main component.
