Gerzean Culture (Naqada II), 4000-3000 BC. A group of eighteen notched base flint and chert bifacial knapped Stone Age arrowheads. 10.8 grams total, 12-25mm (1/2 - 1"). Ex Petra Berhout collection; from the Sahara Desert region, North Africa. These small arrowheads were probably used for hunting birds, fitted with lightweight hollow reed shafts, in the marshes around the Nile basin; from a time when the region was fertile.
