A finial formed as a tubular body surmounted by a male bust in a helmet (probably Imperial Gallic Type H of the 2nd century AD) with a central piercing into the socket and transverse securing rivet-hole to the front. 26.9 grams, 38mm (1 1/2"). From a North Yorkshire collection formed since the 1980s; thence by descent; previously in the Penfold collection, acquired 1970s-1980s. [No Reserve]
