A mixed group of artefacts comprising: an inscribed cuboid-shaped red glass bead; a six-petalled flower with circular recesses, pierced for suspension; a discoid mount with raised cross and amber inlay. See for Roman glass beads with engraving in Price, E., A Romano-British Settlement, its antecedent and successors, Gloucester, 2000, fig.7.4. 8 grams, 20-23mm (3/4 - 1"). Property of a gentleman from Vienna; from his private collection formed since 1970. Production of engraved glass apparently increased in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, mainly concentrated in the western provinces, especially the Rhine area, Great Britain, and Italy.
