23,2 x 24,4 cm Condition Style of Han Huang (723-787), China, Ming dynasty, Horse with Groom. Album leaf in passe-partout, ink and light colours on silk. On the lower left signed: "Huang". Two seals, partly cut off and illegible. Han Huang was a prime minister in the reign of Emperor Dezong (r. 779-804) and a famous painter of figures, buffaloes, sheep, and horses. Accordingly, the groom in this painting wears the dress of the Tang dynasty-Acquired at Lempertz, Cologne, 30th Nov 1990, auction 659, no. 227-Minor damage due to age
