Poetic inscription by the artist with signature: "Tang Yin". One seal: "Tang Bohu yin". Three collectors' seals: Shaoxian shending, xiqing(?) jianshang und wu ? houyi. Tang Yin, style name Bohu, is considered one of the Four Great Masters of the Ming dynasty. He was active in Suzhou and was famous for his brilliant landscape paintings in the style of the Song dynasty. Huang Shaoxian (1862-1897), style name Jidu, from Nanhai in Guangdong, was noted for his activities in collecting and appraising antiquities.-Acquired at Lempertz, Cologne, 7th May 1974, auction 537, no. 54-Mounting partly damaged, minor restorations and minor damage due to age
