Embroidered inscription: "One outstanding person makes up for one hundred officials." (Ying zhan bai liao). An embroidered imperial seal: 'Luxiangyuan xiu' (Embroidered at Studio Luxiangyuan). Gu Mingshi received his jinshi degree in 1559. His studio in Shanghai was called Luxiangyuan.
