D. 26 cm Condition Fan leaf, China, dated 1841, Depiction of a scene from the novel "hongloumeng" (Dream of the Red Chamber). Ink and light colours on silk, framed under glass. Signature by the artist: "Painted by Yuan Lian for the third oldest brother Xiaocha in the 6th month of the year xinchou, after Chen Laolian [Chen Hongshou (1598-1652)].
