Condition A VERY RARE WUCAI FIGURE OF A SEATED GUANDI, WITH WOOD STAND, China, Wanli period-Property from a French private collection, acquired at Etude Couturier Nicolay S.C.P., 30th Mar 1981, lot 35-A larger wucai model of Shoulao was offered at Christie's Hongkong 'The Imperial sale', 1.6.2016, Lot 3323-The wucai palette was also used for two Wanli seated figures of Shoulao; one from the Edward T. Chow Collection, sold at Sotheby's, Hong Kong, 25 November 1980, lot 34, and another included in the exhibition of Important Chinese Ceramics from the Robert Chang Collection, Christie's, London, 2-14 June 1992, no. 30. A group of wucai figures of ladies forming ewers are known, two of which are illustrated in the Tokyo National Museum Catalogue, nos. 515 and 543, and two other polychrome figures were included in the Japan Ceramics Society Exhibition, Yuan and Ming Ceramics, 1956, no. 137, a man wearing a cap, and no. 139, a lady-Slightly chipped, minor old restorations
