A 19th century Chinese carved hardwood open armchair having shaped scroll carved crest rail and pierced circular back splat carved with a bat suspended over deer, a mythical beast and an eagle perched, framed by foliage and gourds, the arms with carved lotus splats, on square legs joined by outer stretchers height 94.5 cm., width 62.5 cm., depth 48 cm. Condition: Shrinkage crack running through seat pane, otherwise fair condition
