ca. 16 x 21 cm Condition A GROUP OF 11 PHOTOGRAPHS DEPICTING BEIJING, 9 COLORIZED BY HAND, 2 IN BLACK AND WHITE, China, early 20th ct. Taken between 1910 and 1929 in Zumbrun's photography business Camera Craft in Peking, the photographs by American John David Zumbrun (1875-1949), who was an official photographer of the Imperial court, depict intimate sceneries of every-day life in Peking, the forbidden city as well as the Summer Palace, with a focus on views of architecture and nature. Very minor damages due to age-Property from the collection of a German engineer working for the German hospital in Beijing prior WW II and then by descent to the present owner-Slight discoloration, minimal damage to edges
