39,5 x 103 cm Condition BUDDHA AMITABHA AND TWO BODHISATTVAS, Japan, Muromachi period, 16th ct. Polychrome and gold painting on silk, mounted as a hanging scroll. Amitabha is depicted standing on two lotus blossoms, clad in a long patched robe. His hands in vitarkamudra, his head with a hinted urna and ushnisha. The Bodhisattvas Mahasthamaprapta and Avalokiteshvara are standing in front of him in a slightly bowed position. They can be distinguished via attributes in their crowns. All three are floating on clouds. -
