A Fabulous Quality George III Mahogany Long-case Clock by George Cooper, London with eight-day 5 pillar rack striking movement. The 12" (30.5 cm) wide break arch-topped dial having a silvered strike/silent ring to the arch above a silvered chapter ring encircling a centre engraved with a subsidiary seconds dial centred by a star burst, flanked by foliate scroll embellishments above the winding holes, maker's name and calendar aperture. The fine flame figured case having a beautiful rich colour and patination. The trunk with broken arch-topped door edged with mouldings and flanked by brass stop-fluted quarter columns above a moulded base with raised centre panel on a double plinth with pad feet. The hood with pagoda pediment centred by an intricate fret-work sounding aperture and surmounted by brass spired ball finials, with stop fluted columns flanking the dial. Standing 93¼" (237 cm) high [excluding centre finial] 20¾" (53 cm) wide, 10½" (27 cm) deep.
