此件为冲耳炉，造型秀气，原型是宋瓷中的哥窑双耳三足小炉。明宣宗曾以此式炉置于干清宫等议政殿堂，相伴朝议，于是有“敬天法祖”之意。形制饱满，材质精良，熟栗色的皮壳显得静谧肃重。耳廓圆硕，立于口沿。口沿饱满颈宽不坠，炉身丰健颇显贵气，韵味十足。下承三乳足。底作篆书铸款“月友琴居” ，极富文人雅趣，为私家款炉。冲天耳，又称“朝天耳”，此耳只用以搭配乳足炉，为宣炉中颇具盛名的器型。整器手感细密光洁，叩之音色清脆，样式颇为典雅，适宜置于书斋案头，为宣炉私款中颇具文人风韵者。
