A charming Byzantine bird figure, bronze, 6th - 7th centuryStylised, slender bird with a long neck, in the beak a fish (the front side of which is missing). The plumage structured by simple geometric incised decoration. Below the claws fastening construction to be able to fix the figure in lead casting (remains preserved). The right claw on the right foot is missing, otherwise intact. Beautiful patina. Height 11 cm. Provenance: South German private collection.Condition: II -
