A bronze 'birthing' idol formed as a standing female figure wearing a long collared garment, detailing to the long face and dressed hair or headdress; one arm and hand held at the waist, the other held to the side of the body, openwork panel in her robe depicting a child; suspension loop to rear of head. Cf. Mooney, P.R.S., Ancient Persian Bronzes in the Adam Collection. Faber & Faber, 1974, p. 163, fig. 144, for a stylistically similar example. 37.3 grams, 86mm (3 1/2"). From a private family collection formed in London from the mid 1980s to early 1990s. Condition Report Fine condition.
