此箱精选黄花梨制成，箱门一木对开，攒框镶板，饰以铜质花边形和长方形委角面叶，钮头、吊牌保存完好。箱子两侧饰有方形把手。内置十四个抽屉及一个一木剖的小柜，实用性强。由此可见，此箱经常移动，更证明其用者的地位。此箱做工精致，细节之处极为考究，用料厚重，铜饰亦属上乘之作，历经数百年而保存完好，非常难得。这类箱具名为“药箱”，实则用于书房，传世少见。参阅：王世襄，《明式家具研究》文字卷戊21、戊22，三联书店（香港）有限公司，1989年，第90页。
