A JADEITE ‘LEAF AND GRAPES’ BRUSH WASHER, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC PERIOD China, 1840-1940. Carved as young grapes on a vine leaf, the front and reverse with finely incised veins. The translucent jadeite is of a fine, grayish-white tone with distinct emerald-green streaks and faint russet veining. The raised grapes were likely designed to serve as a brush rest.

Provenance: From a reputed French private collection.
Condition: Superb condition with a few minuscule nicks to the rim. The stone with natural fissures.

清末民初翡翠葡萄筆洗
中國，1840-1940年。小葡萄掛藤上，正面和背面雕刻都非常精緻，紋理清晰。翡翠半透明，呈細膩的灰白色，帶有明顯的翠綠色紋理和輕微的赤褐色脈紋。凸起的葡萄很可能可以用作筆擱。
